Progress on Public Consultation Feedback

Over October and November, the Freshcare team collaborated with members of the Technical Steering Committee during nine dedicated sessions to address key feedback from the recent public consultation.

Key Topics Discussed

The discussions focused on a range of critical areas, including:

  • Chemicals
  • Water
  • Land, Soil & Nutrients
  • HACCP/Hazard Analysis
  • Documentation
  • Premises
  • Suppliers

Outcomes and Priorities

As a result of these consultations, we have compiled a series of recommendations for updates and improvements. We have prioritised the Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) Standard for immediate review and updates.

By focusing on FSQ, we aim to achieve broader alignment with Environmental and Sustainability Standards, ensuring consistency across all Freshcare Standards. This work includes:

  • Research into state-based legislation requirements.
  • Updates to protocols on chemicals, water licensing, and contract labour hire licensing.

Next Steps

The proposed changes have been shared with the Technical Steering Committee for review, with feedback expected by January 9th, 2024.

In the meantime, Freshcare continues to evaluate public comments, benchmark criteria, and industry recognition to ensure our standards remain relevant, effective, and fit for purpose.
