As Australia’s first choice for assurance programs for the fresh produce, wine grape and supply chain industries, Freshcare has announced the appointment of two new Directors, Carrie Starkings and Belinda Wilson-Chartres, with existing Director Alison Buxton announced as Chairperson and Allan Dall as Deputy Chairperson.

Carrie Starkings is a global fresh produce executive with extensive experience in complex supply chains and farmgate businesses, manufacturing and retailing in all major global regions.

Belinda Wilson-Chartres has over 25 years’ experience working across the supply chain in the fresh food industry and is currently and Auditor, Trainer and Consultant running Fresh Business Directions.

Following her appointment to the Freshcare board last year, now Chairperson, Alison Buxton brings to the organisation her significant corporate leadership experience across Supply Chain and Marketing within Australia and the broader Asia Pacific market.

With two decades of experience in commercial, technical, and finance roles, long-serving Freshcare Director, Allan Dall has a unique and unparalleled understanding of the challenges and requirements of the agribusiness sector.

The Freshcare Board and team would like to thank and acknowledge outgoing Directors Gail Woods and Graham McAlpine.

Over the past eight years Gail and Graham have contributed their industry knowledge, skills and expertise to developing not only Freshcare’s globally recognised standards, but also supporting the organisational vision to become an industry leader of certification.

Freshcare Chairperson Alison Buxton is excited to announce the new Director appointments and be leading the board in her new appointment as Chairperson.

Our New Directors & Chairperson

Carrie Starkings is a global fresh produce executive with extensive professional experience in commercial strategy, marketing, stakeholder management and complex supply chains.  She has a passion for working within the fresh produce industry, which stemmed from her Bachelor of Science in Winemaking and Viticulture and her career within the horticulture industry.

Carrie has worked for farmgate businesses, manufacturing and retailing around the world covering Europe, Africa, China, America and Australia. 

Belinda Wilson-Chartres has over 25 years’ experience working across the supply chain in the fresh food industry. She is currently an Auditor, Trainer and Consultant and runs Fresh Business Directions (a management consulting business) and Fresh Business Training (a registered training organisation (RTO) delivering industry specific education programs for the food industry).

Belinda has contributed to many committees, strategy and advisory groups for not-for-profits, businesses, schools and government. Currently an active member of the HARPS Technical Advisory Group, the Freshmark Industry Advocacy Committee and a Non-Executive Director of The Fresh Produce Safety Centre.

A passion for sustainability led Belinda to coproduce a school program, an interactive app and training materials to provide guidance on everyday sustainability, and has fuelled ongoing research into sustainable, food safe and ethical food systems.
Belinda is passionate about the fresh produce industry and with her hands on experience, broad education and drive for industry collaboration, she is able to bring a unique perspective and actively contribute to the Freshcare Board.

Alison Buxton, is a highly experienced, commercially astute and well-rounded business leader who has built a successful career in blue-chip, multinational organisations across several industries. Significant general management experience including P&L responsibility as well as leadership of large, varied teams not only in Australia but across the broader Asia Pacific market, with a depth of expertise in Supply Chain and Marketing.

Recognised as a strategic thinker capable of quickly getting to the heart of a problem and developing solutions. Exceptional communication skills, a strong track record of driving improved performance and building positive customer and supplier engagement are consistent career themes. A personal passion to be continually challenged and achieve exceptional results, with a high level of energy and resilience, coupled with the ability effectively manage complexity.

Allan Dall brings two decades of experience in commercial, technical, and finance roles, Allan has a unique and unparalleled understanding of the challenges and requirements of the agribusiness sector to Freshcare.

His specialties include IT infrastructure architecture and implementation, accounting and finance, quality assurance management, business leadership, and lean manufacturing.
Allan has had a keen interest in horticulture since he was a teenager, having worked in landscaping and garden centres before obtaining a Bachelors in Horticultural Science and Marketing at WSU in 2004. He then went on to join Barden Produce as a business manager before joining the Freshcare Board in 2012.

Allan is currently CEO and Managing Director of The Glue, a business and technology consultancy firm that allows him to work on his passion of bridging the gap between horticulture and modern technology.

Allan is also an avid skier and traveller and his secret talent for dance saw him cast as Peter Van Pels in the Sydney Dance Company’s production of The Diary of Anne Frank at the Sydney Town Hall in his younger years.
