Freshcare is seeking Expressions of Interest from industry experts to join the Freshcare Technical Steering Committee (TSC) for a two-year term.
The Committee will play a key role in the review and finalisation of the Freshcare Environmental (ENV) Program and Australian Wine Industry Standards of Sustainable Practice (AWISSP), helping ensure the standards continue to provide practical, credible and market-relevant sustainability assurance for Australia’s fresh produce and wine industries.
About the Review
Following the successful finalisation of Freshcare Food Safety & Quality Standard Edition 5 (FSQ5), Freshcare is commencing the next phase of its standards development program.
A recent review confirmed that Freshcare’s Environmental and Sustainability Standards remain well aligned with current industry environmental management practices. The review also identified opportunities to strengthen the standards in response to evolving market expectations, sustainability frameworks and retailer requirements, particularly in the areas of:
- Climate change and greenhouse gas management
- Social responsibility and labour practices
- Soil health and biodiversity
- Water stewardship
- Waste and packaging sustainability
- Risk-based and practical implementation for businesses of all sizes
About the Technical Steering Committee
The Technical Steering Committee provides independent technical advice to Freshcare on the development, review and maintenance of its Standards.
Committee members will contribute their knowledge and experience by:
- reviewing and providing feedback on proposed standard requirements;
- contributing technical expertise within their areas of specialisation;
- participating in discussions to achieve practical, evidence-based outcomes;
- supporting industry consultation throughout the review process; and
- helping ensure the standards remain credible, practical and aligned with industry, regulatory and market expectations.
The Committee is expected to meet at least twice annually in Sydney, with additional online meetings or technical working groups convened as required.
Who Should Apply?
Freshcare welcomes Expressions of Interest from individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Environmental sustainability and natural resource management
- Climate change, greenhouse gas accounting and carbon management
- Human rights, worker welfare and social responsibility
- Horticulture, viticulture and wine production
- Fresh produce and wine supply chains
- Retail and customer sustainability requirements
- Environmental policy and regulation
- Sustainability assurance, certification and auditing
- Standards development and benchmarking
- Risk management
- Commercial, operational or strategic leadership within the agriculture or wine sectors
Freshcare welcomes applications from growers, producers, retailers, industry organisations, researchers, consultants, government representatives and certification professionals.
Remuneration
Committee members will receive a nominal sitting fee for scheduled meetings. Approved travel and meeting expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with Freshcare policy.
