Freshcare has been working with the Australian Flower Industry and Emily Rigby of Cedar Hill Flowers & Foliage, as part of the Australian Government (Department of Agriculture and Water Resources) Package Assisting Small Exporters (PASE) to provide an environmental certification option for Australian flower and foliage producers.

Recognised and supported by the major Australian retailers, Freshcare Environmental provides a foundation for environmental certification in the Australian Fresh Produce and Wine Grape Industries and will now provide the underpinning environmental certification option for the Australian Flower Industry.

Freshcare ENV3 covers both business management and environmental modules as outlined below:

  • Internal audit and corrective action
  • Customer requirements

  • Environmental action planning

There are three components to achieving Freshcare Environmental Certification:

Training – Freshcare training ensures each participating business has a full understanding of ENV3 program requirements, and how to integrate the program into existing business, production and operating systems. Resource materials and record keeping documents are also provided at training.

Implementation – Implementing ENV3 and maintaining records, documents and evidence of compliance to demonstrate the program has been effectively adopted by the business and assist in preparation for an external audit.

Auditing – Third party ENV3 audit is undertaken annually to demonstrate system compliance, on successful completion of audit Freshcare Environmental Certification is achieved.
