2000 – Freshcare Food Safety & Quality Code – 1st Edition
To ensure the 1st Edition of the Freshcare Food Safety & Quality Code of Practice was appropriate and achievable, it was widely distributed in draft form for review by industry stakeholders (growers, packers, wholesalers, processors and retailers).
A science-based ‘Master HACCP Plan’ was developed to identify risks and the on-farm practices required to control the risks.
The consultation process included over 100 farm trial audits to test that the draft code was appropriate and achievable.
The Freshcare Food Safety & Quality 1st Edition Code of Practice was launched in July 2000 at a series of central market events in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
Initially, Freshcare membership grew slowly as it was largely dependant on customer pressure to move from an informal approved supplier program to Freshcare certification.« Back to History
